Snow Days

We finally got some snow!  We've had a little snow for the past two days (a little less than an inch yesterday and a little more than that today).  Unfortunately, today is Saturday, so Daddy only got one day off of school, but we had a great time all the same!

Our winter wonderland

Danica was so excited to see snow on her playhouse and to go down her snow-covered slide.

The first thing Danica did as soon as she got to the bottom of the stairs outside was to lie down and make a snow angel.  This process was repeated many times over the course of our snowy days.

One of Danica's angelic masterpieces

Hannah watched all the fun from the safety of her stroller.

On Snow Day #1, we made the mistake of waiting until after nap time to attempt a snowman, and, well, by that time there wasn't much left to work with.  But, Danica was adamant about a snowman being made and even made me go to the kitchen to cut a baby carrot into slivers for a nose.  Our final product was about two inches tall.

We learned our lesson, and Day #2's attempt was more successful.  We had more snow today, and we started earlier.  It was really dry and powdery, not ideal for snowman making, but Daddy and Danica built this masterpiece on our driveway.  Danica named him "Jacob Frosty" and claims he is her best friend.  She even spent part of her day playing in the garage so that he wouldn't be lonely.  She keeps checking to make sure he hasn't melted away (all the rest of the snow was gone by the end of the day).  If there's anything left of him in the morning, she's going to be awfully disappointed when we have to run over him with the car to leave for church.  We may need to be more strategic with our snowman placement in the future.
