Today was our first Halloween event of the year. We went trick-or-treating at the library after toddler story time. A few weeks ago, Danica decided that she really, really, REALLY wanted to be Swiper the Fox for Halloween (for those of you unfamiliar with toddler pop culture, Swiper is the "villain" from Dora the Explorer). He's sneaky and likes to swipe things, and Danica likes to gleefully proclaim that she is going to "sneak all the treats" on Halloween. She even has an evil little laugh to go with it. I'm including a picture of the real Swiper so that you can see the look we were shooting for. Unfortunately, there were no commercial Swiper costumes to be found. There were also no orange pants to be found in all of Middle Tennessee. So, Mommy had to relearn to sew really quickly. After a couple of YouTube tutorials, this is what we came up with. She was not at all interested in wearing her mask or gloves today, so most people just thought she was an orange cat. We've still got a handful of Halloween parties and events this week, so I'm convinced we'll be able to get her into the full costume by Monday.
