This week was Fall Break for the local schools, and we decided to take a short, but extremely needed, vacation. We headed down to Gulf Shores, Alabama. A few years ago, we never would have thought we'd be going to Alabama for a beach vacation, but we were pleasantly surprised. The weather was perfect, and since it wasn't peak travel season, we had lots of beach to ourselves. Definitely a wonderful trip and we really enjoyed having some uninterrupted time with just the three of us!
The drive down was long, but we stopped a few times along the way, including a stop at a rest stop near Huntsville that had a rocket from the Saturn program. It was pretty impressive. Danica attempted to start a new fashion craze with her creative headphone-wearing.
As soon as we made it to Gulf Shores, we headed straight to the beach. True to her California roots, Danica loved the sand and water right from the start.
We played with some local alligators, then enjoyed some fried seafood for dinner. Between the three of us, we had shrimp, oysters, stuffed crab, crab claws, scallops, soft shell crab, and flounder. Delicious!
