We went strawberry picking with MOMS Club today. It was a huge hit as far as Danica was concerned. While picking, she frequently proclaimed, "I love strawberries!" I'm fairly certain that she consumed her weight in berries while we were out there, eating three or four berries for every one that went in the basket. And, of all the kids who came on the trip, Danica was the last one still out in the field picking berries at the end of the morning - hence, her new nickname, Strawberry Shortcake!

All ready to gather some berries!

It did get a little bit messy.

So proud of her berries!
Unfortunately, that's where our pictures end, because that's when our camera battery died. After we picked (and ate) our fill of strawberries, we watched the workers smoke the bee hives and checked out the few animals they had on the farm (a few chickens, a cow, and two goats). I was thrilled to see the animals, since I had been having a hard time explaining to Danica for the past two days that this farm was a farm for growing food, and not animals (in her brain, farm=cows). So, the cow sighting made this a REAL farm trip. Phew! We topped off the day with some homemade strawberry ice cream from the farm store. Yum!
Danica is still excited about her strawberries. She wants to share them with everyone (or at least show them to them) and is very possessive of her strawberry basket. When she woke up from her nap today, the first word I heard her holler was, "Strawberries!!!"
